Synopsis

A modern day romance set in the city of Mumbai, India. Every day over 5,000 dabbawallas deliver hot lunches prepared by housewives to their busy husbands in the city.
Widower Saajan (Irrfan Khan) accidentally receives a lunchbox prepared by a young neglected housewife, Ila (Nimrat Kaur). The two begin sending each other letters through the lunchbox. What may have started off innocently, turns into a beautiful story of finding romance and happiness in unexpected places.

Synopsis

The Machine Movie is set in an impoverished world plunged into a Cold War with a new enemy, Britain’s Ministry of Defence is on the brink of developing a game-changing weapon. Lead scientist Vincent McCarthy (Toby Stephens) provides the answer with his creation, ‘The Machine’- an android with unrivalled physical and processing skills, a mechanised soldier and thinking robot that would not only have the ability to fight, but to negotiate and keep peace too.

Vincent begins by placing implant chips into fatally wounded soldiers’ brains, to revive them into a state of controlled consciousness. When a programming glitch causes an early prototype to destroy his lab and threaten his life, McCarthy seeks more help. Fuelled by his own agenda to use the new technology to help give his sick daughter another chance at life, he enlists artificial intelligence expert Ava (Caity Lotz). Together they work to harness the full potential of a truly conscious fighting machine and to save his daughter from the grips of her illness.

Thomson (Denis Lawson), Vincent’s scheming boss is only really interested in a killing machine that will follow his every command. When Vincent’s creation shows signs of true consciousness and intelligence Thomson orders it to be deactivated. But The Machine has its own ideas and fights back with vengeance.

Based upon Matt Thorne’s award-winning novel about life in a call centre, “Eight Minutes Idle” is a warped urban comedy about what it really means to put your life ‘on hold’! Dan Thomas has always taken the path of least resistance – in his work life, home life and love life! But when Dan finds himself kicked out of the family home, he’s faced with no option but to secretly move into the call centre where he works. Suddenly, everything that he’s previously taken for granted – a well-stocked fridge, clean clothes, his friends, his self respect, even his beloved cat – are either disappearing or conspiring against him.

As Dan’s work/life balance spirals dangerously out of control, he’s forced to break out of old habits and to dare to do something he has never had to do before – really care about someone other than himself.

Maurice Shear - Chairman

Maurice has spent his entire working career in International Banking. Most of this time was spent in the Treasury area of Bank Leumi (UK) plc. Whilst there, he managed the Dealing Room, Private Banking and Offshore Banking and at the time of his retirement, he was Deputy General Manager and a director of their Bank and Trust Company in Jersey.

Elliott Binns – Sales & Operations

Elliott has worked in UK Distribution for the past 8 years and has released films such as ‘Red Road’, ‘The Arbor’, ‘Dogtooth’ and ‘Short Term 12’
